I’m always getting requests to share links to cabins and cottages that I’ve stayed at in the past and I’m more than happy to happy to do so. But I thought it might be helpful to have that information down in one easy place so you can revisit when you need to vs. having to send me a DM and most likely I don’t see it or forget to respond right away (sorry!). I’m going to share my most requested here first and will continue to link to others as this newsletter evolves. Enjoy!!

Clearwater Cottage, Western Maine Mountain Range
This seasonal cabin in the Western Maine Mountain Region truly a gem. It has all the modern amenities you might need - electricity, running water, wood stove, flush toilet (the bathroom cabin is separate, just steps away) - but staying here takes you back in time. It’s a classic Maine camp. You’re right on Clearwater Lake which is incredibly peaceful, especially in the fall. Plus, the sunrises here are unreal! I really loved staying here with a good friend; we had many fires in the wood stove, a few good books, lots of fresh bread, and restful time together. If that’s what you’re seeking - look no further!

Historic Island Farmhouse, Friendship Long Island Maine
Greg, Maisey and I stayed on this small Maine island one September a few years ago and it was truly heaven. The owner of this 1850’s era farmhouse lives on the island in a separate cabin and will come pick you up from the mainland in his boat (unless you have your own). The house and the island it sits on are absolutely stunning. You can walk for many miles on quiet, moss lined trails throughout the island and most likely not see another soul. But let me warn you - the amenities here are very basic! No electricity (I recommend bringing headlamps and candles), no running water, and no indoor plumbing. And if you’re at all squeamish about outhouses - this one might not be for you. BUT - it’s worth it, trust me.

Overbrook Cabin, Monterey Massachusetts
A few years ago I stayed at this cabin by myself for a few days of calm before the craziness of the holiday season began and I was lucky enough for the first snow to fall during my stay. It was beyond magical. This cabin is located down a set of rustic steps set into a hill and over a bridge that leads across a small babbling brook. Yes, it’s right out of a story book. There is a gorgeous stone fireplace, a large screen porch, a well stocked kitchen, and the coziest loft you might ever sleep in. I’d escape here monthly if I could! And you’re not far from Great Barrington which is a very sweet town.
And here are a few places I haven’t been to yet but would really love to visit:

Until next time. Bye, friends!

This makes me so happy! Couple of questions: any likelihood of recommendations in PA? And, how does one keep rodents at bay when not at a place full-time? Thanks so much for doing this!
